Yup.
Because it just wouldn't be a good comic unless we worked in Venetian Snares into Orcusville somehow.

Yes, yes. You're welcome.

Couple other things...

That's right. Two banners. You should really read this book. It's pretty damned funny.

Yeah, that's damned funny, too. I loves me SMBC.

And don't forget to check out the ACTION! RPG over at Vorpal Gnome. It needs feedback. Seriously. Bad or good-- bring it.

Man, I really want some Stilton.

SMBC is following Carlin's test for comedians.

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line [of good taste] is drawn and cross it deliberately."

Exactly. I do that every day, I think.

My wife is used to it.

In fact, I show a lot of restraint with Orcusville. hehe

ACTION! seems pretty competent. i really like the rule where Blood Points are regenerated for performing specific action movie clichés. everything else seems pretty standard.

to me, an action film, and especially the clichés thereof, is really (mostly) about a single character, so i'm not really sure how well it would work out with a gaming group. it might do better by focusing on either or both of Tunnels & Trolls-style solo adventures or Ghost Dog-style one-on-one play (or maybe two-on-one, what with all the buddy films). while there are some action films which focus on larger groups, they are less common, and their clichés are a bit different (Aliens wasn't high on the sex scenes or boozin', neither was The Eliminators).

also, not every action film is as optimistic as the game paints things. there could be a set of options for neo-noir, like Chinatown, La Femme Nikita, The Professional, or Taxi Driver, which loosely fall under the action film rubric (though i can see why those were avoided in the basic game).

Excellent! And I agree with you wholeheartedly. Ryan also mentioned to me that the game is primarily designed for a director (GM) and actor (player). Though a buddy movie game would rawk. RPing through something like Tango & Cash meets Terminator? Yes, plz.

Yeah, this is specifically relating to 80's American action movies. Usually related directly to the Schwarzenegger or Stallone school or their low-budget imitators. Or American martial arts movies, which were also usually laughable at every turn and were pretty much always direct-to-video.

This is a game for people who want to play a former football player playing a cop who's a loose cannon.
